Rangers Spring training officially starts in approximately 21 hours and aull is calm on the Rangers front. Some teams have already reported to spring training today, although the major sports news today is that after almost 3 months Tiger Woods will finally speak publicly about his one car accident and the rumors of extramarital affairs. Hopefully Tiger’s future will be understood on Friday, but now to Baseball.

The biggest splash in baseball today was that Mark Mcgwire the former single-season home run record holder, admitted steroid user and now in his first season as hitting coach for the Cardinals reported to spring training in Jupiter Florida to begin training for the long season ahead. He has quite the ensemble to work with this season considering he will have a one two punch with Matt Holliday and Albert Pujols. As spring training turns into the season the publicity on McGwire should turn become less and more of the focus should be on the team.

This start of spring training tomorrow will be the last for Tom Hicks as a majority owner. He is in the final stage of selling the Rangers to the Chuck Greenberg group. You can check out a pevious post here on the “The Tom Hicks Era”

Today is the last day in which there will be no Rangers baseball activities till the end of October. Pitcher and catchers have probably already arrived, and are planing on checking into camp tomorrow. I am sure I speak for Baseball fans across the country thank goodness spring training is here.
