Rangers On a Roll 6-0; New Record on the Way?

The Texas Rangers have started the 2011 MLB season off awesome. They won the first three-game series against the Boston Red Sox to them host another three-game series at home against the Seattle Mariners. I must say, I didn’t think they could pull off two series wins in a row resulting in a 6-0 record for the season. For the first time in 15 years, they are the only undefeated team in the American League.

They are definitely living up to defending their American League title and they may just replicate their World Series appearance – but this time win it – if they keep going at the rate they are going. Sure, they are going to lose a game sooner or later, but the fact that they are entering the season on fire is very impressive.

The team not only has a stellar lineup that is hitting those balls like they are sitting still and soaring them out of the ballpark but their starting rotation is completely solid and their defense is crazy good. Sure, those balls out of the park have definitely helped these guys win their games but they’ve also been fine without them. They hit 13 home runs in their first four games of the season but in the last two games, there was not a single homer hit and they still won.

Starting tomorrow, the team will be in Baltimore to face the Orioles and will look to continue their winning streak. If they can win Thursday’s game, it will be the first time since 1996 that they opened a season 7-0, which was the same year they won the very first AL West division title, and if they can triump on Friday, it will be the first time in club history that the team has opened the season 8-0…these guys are all about record setting this year so far, which leads me to believe another one very well might be on the way.

And just as a quick note: the first team that the Rangers met this year was the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox are said to be the team to de-throne the Rangers in the American League this year; however, have you had a chance to look at their records for the season? Needless to say, if they don’t pick up their game, they aren’t going to be much of a threat to the Rangers as they have not won a single game in six!

Sure, the season is still early and there are plenty of games left but with this start and the confidence that these guys have, I just don’t see any other team giving them too much of a fight. They are really good this year and I mean so good it’s almost a little scary and the rest of the American League have definitely noticed and I’m sure are at least a little worried.

What do you guys think? Do you think the Rangers will make another record and go 8-0? When do you think they will see their first loss of the year? Finally, do you think Boston is the team to take the Rangers out of the equation?
