Rangers Finally Get a Win over Toronto

In the third game of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers finally picked up their first win. Derek Holland got the start for the Rangers. The Rangers won the game 7-6. Here’s a brief recap of the game.

Pitching:

Derek was decent in his outing, going five innings on the game. Holland did give up five runs, but left the game with a 6-5 lead. Recent Triple-A call up Cody Eppley pitched the sixth and seventh innings of the game. Eppley gave up the run that tied the game in the seventh; the Rangers scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the inning. Arthur Rhodes pitched a scoreless-hitless eighth inning, and Darren Oliver took care of the ninth. Eppley earned the win and Oliver had the save on the game.

Offense:

 Wednesday’s hero was Mitch Moreland, after a slugfest early in the game Moreland hit a solo home-run in the seventh inning to secure the win. The two Mikes, Napoli and Young, each had two RBIs on the game. Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz each had RBIs as well. The Rangers on Wednesday were 4 for 6 with runners in scoring position, and Ian Kinsler picked up a stolen base in the game.

 Today’s Game:

 The Rangers can tie the series with a win today; the game is at 1:05 PM in Arlington. Alexi Ogando will try to continue his luck against Brandon Morrow. We’ll have the recap for you this evening.
