Apparently It’s Not Too Early to Talk Trades

facebooktwitterreddit

A month into the season and we have already heard trade speculation . NESN (the New England sports network), had an article up about who the Yankees would be going for at the trade deadline.

Among the names listed they suggest that Texas Rangers’ ace, C.J. Wilson, would be on the block if the season wasn’t going well. Isn’t it too early to put that out there? C.J. has never played for another team, and while is contract is up this season I don’t think any of us  have put him in the trade category.

Here is part of the quote from NESN –

"If the Cardinals, White Sox or Rangers aren’t where they want to be come the All-Star break, Chris Carpenter, Mark Buehrle or C.J. Wilson may not be untouchable."

I’m not being a naive fan here, I completely understand the business of baseball, and anything is possible. Jon Daniels has said he will listen to trade offers on any player. For any of you that follow the Dallas Stars we went through this with Brad Richards. It was almost the same situation the team was winning and in contention, the media still put it out there that he could be traded. Ultimately e Stars held on to him and they missed the playoffs by one game.

For now let’s just settle down and wait until at least late June to speculate. Here’s the link to the post and the fan poll.
