Rainy Day Blues: Rangers/Athletics Game Cancelled

The game that never happened featured a grand slam by Mitch Moreland (a career first) and a 7 to 0 lead over Oakland. All of the accomplishments will be wiped from the record books as a result. Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas covered the game and had this information at his blog.

After a rain delay of 2 hours, 14 minutes Wednesday afternoon, the Rangers’ game against the A’s at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington was called off.

Play was suspended at in the middle of the fourth inning with the Rangers leading, 7-0. All stats are wiped out, meaning Mitch Moreland no longer has a major league grand slam to his credit. The game will be made up in its entirety at a date to be determined when Oakland returns to Arlington later in the season.

Fans can exchange tickets for Wednesday’s game for any home game the rest of the season, subject to availability.

It’s the first rainout in Arlington since Sept. 11, 2009.
