The Texas Rangers have not won back to back games since April 24th against Kansas City. If the Rangers want to fix this today they have some work ahead of them. Oakland is bringing their young pitcher Gio Gonzalez to face the struggling Matt Harrison.
Gio Gonzalez (4-2 2.68 ERA) is taking the mound for the A’s. The last time Gonzalez took on the Rangers he allowed two runs and five hits. Look for the Rangers to play small ball and try to get runs on the board anyway they can.
Matt Harrison (3-4 4.35 ERA) is starting for the Rangers. In his last game against Oakland he allowed six hits and four runs. This Oakland team is excellent at scoring against the Rangers, and if Harrison isn’t careful the game could get away from him quickly.
If the Rangers want to win this one, they will need to do so in a low scoring effort. I’d like to see them work the count against Gonzalez, and force him to throw as many pitches as he can early in the game. The best chance would be against the bullpen…
The Rangers win this one 3 to 2
