We had a pretty exciting pitcher’s duel in Arlington yesterday afternoon. Dan Haren, who has tormented the Rangers in recent years, pitched well but didn’t get the win. Derek Holland who has had his ups and downs this season, pitched well but didn’t get the loss. The game was tied 1-1 until the Angels scored in the top of the sixth inning, and the Rangers were able to tie it again at 2 in the bottom of the eighth.
Enter Darren Oliver, who aside from Neftali Feliz has been made almost a figurehead of the Rangers bullpen. It seems like nearly every game has featured at least an inning from Oliver. Darren allowed two hits, a walk, and the game winning RBI to Maicer Izturis. Game Over.
Derek Holland was good in his outing, not great but good. In a full six innings he allowed six hits three walks and two runs. Mark Lowe and Cody Eppley each pitched an inning allowing no runs. For the Rangers offense the two RBIs were from Michael Young and Adrian Beltre (both tied at 30 RBIs on the year).
The Rangers can walk away with a series win this afternoon at 2:05pm when C.J. Wilson takes on Ervin Santana.
