Danny Duffy takes on Alexi Ogando: Battle of Top Prospects

The Royals tonight will debut their number three pitching prospect Danny Duffy. There is so much excitement around this lefty, and I absolutely cannot wait for tonight’s match-up. In AA ball in 2010 Duffy was 6 and 2 with a 2.50 ERA, earning 56 strikeouts in just over 50 innings. This year in AAA Omaha he has 43 strikeouts in 30 innings. His fastball will regularly hit the mid-nineties he has a good change up and a decent breaking ball.  In  2010 spring training Duffy retired from baseball, and then came back to the organization in June of that season.

Of course we all know about Alexi Ogando by now. 4-0 in the big leagues with a spectacular 2.06 ERA. Ogando has established himself securely as a starter and it will be interesting to see the battle of the two young pitchers. These are two teams with deep farm systems, that will both compete well for years as a result.

Your Texas Rangers hold a record of 22-20 is tied for first in the AL West with Oakland. The Angels are merely a half-game back, in what is building to be a memorable race. The Rangers swept the Royals earlier this season and are looking to do so tonight. Kansas City is 20 and 21, and looking to get into the mix of the AL Cental.

First pitch is at 7:10 on Fox Sports Southwest or ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM.
