Rehab in Round Rock – Cruz/Hamilton Updates (Updated 05-23)

In Round Rock Texas this weekend the minor league team is getting some big league help. Continuing the rehab from injuries, Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz both are playing for the Rangers’ Triple-A affiliates this weekend. It’s gone pretty well so far-

Friday night was all about Nelson Cruz. Cruz was originally scheduled to play with the big club this weekend, but due to poor outings with Frisco the Rangers sent him with Josh to Round Rock. Nelson was three for four with a two-run homer. Josh did well himself going one for four with a  double.

In Saturday’s game Josh Hamilton was one for three with a walk; the one hit was a three-run homer. Cruz was just as impressive in his outing going one for four with a solo-home run.

UPDATE: Sunday’s game was good for both players as well. Hamilton was 0 for 4 with a walk, but showed good plate discipline. Nelson Cruz was 1 for 3 with two walks, the one hit was a solo home run. Rangers officials reported that both players would be coming back to join the team on Monday.

This is definitely a good sign for the Rangers, who have been lacking run-support in recent games. Josh and Nelson both must be hungry to play with the boys in Arlington again. It would not be a stretch to say the rest of us are ready for that to happen as well.
