Texas Rangers fans were cheering on the World team at last night’s MLB XM Futures Game. Rangers’ super prospects Jurickson Profar and Martin Perez were both selected to the 2011 game. The game is basically an All-Star game for all levels of minor league baseball.
Martin Perez threw in the fifth inning of the game. He had a tough inning – giving up two hits and one earned run. He did pick up a nice strikeout, but he also had a balk and seemed nervous under the lights.
Jurickson Profar on the other hand was fantastic. He hit an RBI-Triple off of Twins Triple-A prospect Kyle Gibson. It was impressive to get a live look at him, and see him perform so well as a Single-A player against a higher level pitcher. He then popped out foul in the ninth, with a ball that no human being should have been able to grab.
It was good to see both prospects live on ESPN, and hopefully we’ll see them one day in Arlington. We’ll keep you posted on all of the Rangers prospects. Check back later this week for my top prospects of the first half!
