Derek Holland near Perfect – Rangers Win 5-0 Over Mariners

Another complete game shutout for the Dutch Oven – Derek Holland. Derek went the whole game only allowed five hits and one walk – and no runs. Dutchy even had eight strikeouts on the game. This was another impressive start that lets us dream on what he could eventually be for the Texas Rangers.

The bullpen was great tonight! Everyone got the night off. The Rangers offense was even better; all nine of the Rangers’ starters had a hit in the game. Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, and Mike Napoli all had solo home runs. Napoli was extra impressive going 3-for-4 in the game. Michael Young and Elvis Andrus each accounted for the other two RBIs in the game.

This was a great start coming back from the break, and with the Angels off – gives Texas a half-game jump. Baseball writers were starting to take note that with the impressive resurgence of Holland, the Rangers may not need a free-agent arm. I like this talk!

Another late-night game tonight, hopefully they keep the momentum going.
