C.J. Wilson has Six-Year Offer to Leave Texas

Bob Garber, the agent for free agent pitcher C.J. Wilson has indicated that his client has a six-year offer in hand from one club. That club is not the Texas Rangers.

Garber is set to meet with Rangers officials either tonight or tomorrow morning, and has said that Wilson will not sign “just because” it’s a six-year deal.

What this says to me is that average annual salary may be just as important as total number of years. Certainly, other factors will also be in play, but I can’t imagine this is good news for Rangers fans hoping that C.J. stays put. Expect Wilson to come to a decision this week.
