Arbitration And The Waiting Game

The Day That Could Possibly Live In Texas Rangers Infamy is tomorrow. Today, all we have is a lot of stress and info on the arbitration eligible players.

The Rangers came to terms with Mike Adams for $4.4 million. He was projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $4.5 million.
Adams was a staple in the bullpen after being acquired from the Padres at the trade Deadline. A serious show-stopper in the 8th inning, he provided an excellent bridge to Neftali Feliz. He went 5-4 with a 1.47 ERA in 73.2 innings. He allowed 44 hits and only 12 earned runs, while only walking 14 and striking out 74. His WHIP was a measly 0.79.

David Murphy also reached an agreement with the Rangers, receiving a cool $3.625 million. David Murphy joined the Rangers in 2007 and has been a maintstay ever since. This past year he sported a .275/.328/.401 in 404 ABs. He served mainly as the 4th outfielder, until a few injuries got him in the game more regularly. He performed well, hitting 11 home runs with a memorable grand slam during the regular season. He earned $2.4 million last year.

Mark Lowe was also given a raise, jumping from $1,200,000 to $1,700,000. Lowe was another quality arm that gave the Rangers many good innings. He went 2-3 with a 3.80 ERA in 45 innings. His postseason was pretty memorable, as it was him that gave up the extra-innings home run to David Friese in game 6(super sad face). His ERA in the playoffs ended up at 18.00 but don’t let that distract you from his quality, this guy is pretty good with a young, flame throwing arm.

Other players that have yet to settle include Mike Napoli, Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison, and slugger Nelson Cruz. These players are well deserving of their respective raises in my opinion. Tomorrow my post should be a lot more exciting, as will a lot of Texas Rangers Bloggers. I seriously can’t wait. Are Yu excited? Until next time, Go Rangers.
