Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, the game that will live in infamy. Of all the screwy things about that game I keep reliving Nelson Cruz misplaying the David Freese triple. If he was a little bit faster, had been playing a step back, if he would have reacted a split second quicker then the game is over. Instead Texas Rangers fans will live with that game as our own personal Hell for a long time.
Today Nelson Cruz and Texas management agreed to a two year deal worth an estimated $16 million. For the slugging right fielder this is approximately a $4,350,000 raise over what he made last year. While Cruz has his legion of fans and he is ultimately part of the core group that Jon Daniels and Nolan Ryan have put together to win a World Series. But is he worth it?
I am married to a wonderful woman who relunctantly tolerates baseball. I have three great kids who chase down autographs and foul balls with the best of them. I have been a fan of baseball my entire life, literally at a Big Red Machine game while in utero. I love my Texas Rangers since I can remember, I remember Mitch Williams being a Texas Ranger okay? While I am away from Texas I have the pleasure of watching the Rangers prospects playing with the Hickory Crawdads and Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
The Texas Rangers Farm System, past and present is a real treat for me and will be happy to answer any prospect question you may have.
