Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

Today marks the first start by Yu Darvishas a Texas Ranger. In the spring training game today against the San Diego Padres Darvish will throw no more than two innings. His start will be the fourth game that the Rangers have played in this young spring training. He has the opportunity to bring the Rangers to the .500 mark for the first time following dropping a pair to the Royals and a strong win against the Diamondbacks.

What you will see from his outing today is Darvish doing little beyond attempting to get used to pitching to major league talent. This outing will not only be time limited as before but it will most likely be pitch limited as to the number of pitch types he throws and the overall number of pitches thrown. The point of this exercise is to get him ready for the season by gradually working him up in pitch counts as the spring continues.
