Down on the Farm
In AAA the Express are once again facing the New Orleans Zephyrs. After yesterday’s win the Express are going with top prospect Martin Perez on the mound. Perez is 2-2 on the year with a 4.13 ERA. He has been good the season so far with one quality start and three starts that were good, but he also suffered mightily through the 4th start. Today he will be like Harrison and attempt to rectify where his stats now stand. The Express are 11-15 for the year. This is their 27 game.
The AA Frisco RoughRiders are also going with an afternoon game. Justin Grimm will be on the mound as the ‘Riders face the Missions once again. Grimm is 4-1 on the season with a 1.55 ERA. The UGA alum has been stellar in his wins, and terrible in his loss. At least he is being consistent in what he does. Frisco is 16-9 on the year and are first in their division. This is game 26 of the season.
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans need to turn around their losing streak. They will have Wilmer Font on the mound at first, with Randol Rojas scheduled to come in to take over for him. With Font still recovering from his surgery last year he is being kept on an extremely tight pitch limit. Through 5 games he has pitched 8 innings. He has yet to look impressive and that is bore out with his 9.0 ERA. The Pelicans are 12-12 on the year. This is game 25 for the Pelicans.
In Class A baseball the Hickory Crawdads also went with an early start today. Hickory is going with Clemson alum Will Lamb on the mound today. Lamb is 0-1 for the season with a 3.07 ERA. The ‘Dads were off yesterday and today will start a road series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Hickory is 16-8 so far this season tied for first in their division. This will be game 25 for the Crawdads.
Good luck and Go Rangers.
