Meanwhile, down on the Farm.

In AAA action the Round Rock Express are looking to end their series against the New Orleans Zephyrs tonight. Neil Ramirez will be on the mound for against the AAA Marlins. He is 2-2 with a 4.5 ERA. The big right hander is going to try to put his last outing which was an atrocious affair where he pitched one inning and allowed 5 hits, 6 runs and 3 walks. That single game he had a 54.00 ERA. Ramirez’s other starts were by and large much better and hopefully that bad start is his one for a long time. The Express are 12-15 on the season after yesterday’s victory. This will be game 28.

The AA Frisco RoughRiders are going to try to improve their 17-9 record against the San Antonio Mission in game 3 of a 4 game series. For the ‘Riders Carlos Pimentel will be given the start. He is 1-1 since his conversion to the starting rotation. Pimentel has a 2.79 ERA as a starter. He has taken the rotation spot of Miguel De Los Santos who is on the 7 day disabled list. This will be game 27 for the ‘Riders.

In an early afternoon game the ace of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Cody Buckel pitched another gem and gave the Pelicans a 4-0 win. Buckel has been the brightest diamond in the Class A level pitching so far this season. He is 3-1 with a 1.31 ERA. But perhaps the most outstanding stat of the young talent is his 12 walks to 41 strikeouts. The Pelicans who had earlier this week hit the .500 mark are now 14-12 and 2 games back of first place. This was game 26 for the Pelicans.

Class A Hickory Crawdads will be in action tonight against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. On the mound for the ‘Dads will be Luke Jackson. He is 2-1 on the season with a 3.46 ERA. Like Ramirez he will be looking to shake off a bad previous start and return to better outings. The last start he went 5.1 innings but allowed 8 hits, 7 runs and 4 walks. More runs were scored on him in that start than the previous 4 starts he had this season. Jackson is working with a 3:1 ratio on strike outs to walks. The ‘Dads have the chance to regain 1st place in their division with a win tonight. They are 16-9 on the year. Tonight’s match will be game 26 for the year.

Good luck everyone and great job Cody Buckel.
