The Rangers Are 59-49

Martin Perez pitched a strong 7.1 innings, and Adrian Beltre blasted a walk-off homer into the left field stands, the 3rd time in as many nights a Ranger has accomplished such a feat.

Perez threw 95 pitches on the night, an efficient workload after a game where the Rangers shuffled through 6 pitchers and 198 pitches in 10 innings. His allowed only 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 2 and walking 1.

The offense provided 8 hits — one a Nelson Cruz homer — before Beltre sent the Angels home with his heroics.

With the A’s losing for a 2nd straight day to the Blue Jays, the Rangers are now within 4.0 of the AL West lead. Tomorrow Yu Darvish faces off against the Diamondbacks in a makeup game from earlier in the season, and after that Oakland is in town.

Yu struck out 14 last time he faced the D-backs. If he doesn’t give up the long ball like he did in that game, I feel confident in his stuff.
