The Ranger Report Podcast Episode 1

David Cash and myself have began doing a podcast here on Nolan Writin. We recorded the first episode tonight and it is available for download from Blog Talk Radio. We hope you guys take the time to check it out, feel free to criticise us or encourage us or tell us how to improve the podcast.

We talked about the begining of spring training, talked about the starting pitching and who we think will be the fifth starter. David and I both agree that Nick Tepesch probably has the edge unless Tommy Hanson is back to his old self. We then talked about the bull pen and how it is a big strength for the Texas Rangers, and then we talked about who is the front runner to win the closers spot. We both think it is Neftali Feliz, but Tanner Scheppers would also be a good choice and Tanner Scheppers was groomed a little bit by former Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan. I had the opportunity to talk to Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest and we played that interview. Anthony and I talked about the starting rotation, the expectation of camp and what to expect from some on the minor league guys.

Following that, David and I discussed Ron Washington’s contract situation, and then we discussed the starting catcher question: mainly who will be the starter. We looke at numbers from both guys and we both think that Geovany Soto will get the nod in front of J.P. Arencibia. And speaking of catchers, I had the chance to interview Brett Nicholas of the Frisco Rough Riders.

I hope you take the time to listen to and enjoy our podcast. See you next week!
