Texas Rangers projected starting catcher Geovany Soto underwent surgery to repair the pain he has been having in his achillies.

"Soto has surgery….Out for three weeks http://t.co/sffITZM9ae— TR Sullivan (@Sullivan_Ranger) February 22, 2014The Rangers are saying that Soto should still be ready for opening day, but his workload may be cut back while he gets into playing shape. It seems now like everyday is bringing bad news out of Texas Rangers Camp. Matt Harrison, Geovany Soto, minor problems with Scheppers and Feliz, Nelson Cruz signing with Baltimore for $6 million less than the Texas Rangers offered him, the list goes on and on. I am starting to wonder if this franchise is somehow cursed! Not only that, but news that Prince Fielder is taking a personal day today would usually not cause me any pause at all, but now every piece of strange news has me worried. This has been a crazy and bad last few days at Texas Rangers camp, and the Geovany Soto news doesn’t make me feel any better. I think J.P. Arencibia will be an adequate backup catcher, but I would not want to go a whole season with a guy that did not have a batting average over .200 last season. Maybe this will be our chance to see Jorge Alfaro at the major league level. We will just have to wait and see how this turns out. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
