Surprise, Arizona – According to T.R. Sullivan Yu Darvish is now doubtful for opening day.

The bad news just continues for the Texas Rangers. Over the weekend, the Texas Rangers lost Jurickson Profar for 3 months, Geovany Soto for three months, and now Darvish is listed as doubtful for opening day. He is dealing with a stiff neck and it does not seem to be getting better at the moment. So who does that leave as the opening day starter? Would it be Martin Perez, beginning only his second year as a major league pitcher? Would it be Tanner Scheppers, making his first major league start ever? Joe Saunders? Colby Lewis? None of those options will strike fear into the hearts and minds of the Phillies players like Darvish would.

The Texas Rangers appear to be in an injury free fall at the moment, and I am wonder why and what can be done to stop it. This has been one of the most frustrating spring trainings that I can remember, and I can remember many a spring training. I am now in the beginnings of a full-fledged panic mode about the Texas Rangers. But at least Jon Daniels is not worried about it. If one more thing goes wrong, I may just move to a house in the middle of nowhere and lay in a corner with my shotgun and a bottle of whiskey…….
