Arlington, Tex – Texas Rangers outfielder Michael Choice entered the last night’s game with a bang.  During the 9th inning Choice came in to pinch hit for Mitch Moreland.   Moreland had been 0-3 for the night with 2 strike outs when Ron Washington went to the young outfielder to give the team a chance for the win.

Choice did just that, with the Rangers down he hit a deep shot to right center, just over the KIA sign in the Texas Rangers bullpen.   The kid who grew up next door to the ballpark gave the Rangers enough for extra innings, but couldn’t repeat the magic again in the 10th.

Even though the Rangers didn’t win, I’m sure he didn’t let that spoil his first major league home run.  Also, he is the first Texas Rangers to get his first home run off a pinch hit.

While Choice is only batting .153, you’ll have to remember he isn’t a every day player.  Washington does give him playing time by either resting, an outfielder or Mitch Moreland.  Also, he’s pinch hit several times this season already.  He’s a great player and he’s shown he can do it all.  I think over the season his batting average will level out to around .250.
