Texas Rangers struggling starting pitcher Tanner Scheppers is going on the DL according to multiple sources.

Tanner Scheppers has struggled mightily in his four starts in 2014, post an ERA of 9.82 and giving up 20 earned runs and 27 hits in 18.1 innings pitched. The inflammation in the right elbow is a bad sign, and it is one of those injuries that can lead to Tommy John Surgery. I am a fan of Scheppers, especially in the bull pen, and if he is going to require TJ surgery, this will be another big blow to a Texas Rangers team that has had a lot of them so far this year. Tanner Scheppers looks like he will be replaced in the rotation by Nick Martinez, but for now the Texas Rangers have brought up Aaron Poreda, who is having a nice season so far at AAA ball. We will keep you posted if any other news breaks about this situation.
