Texas Rangers Add 2 More Catchers
By Ben Dieter
So, the Texas Rangers have decided that J.P. Arencibia is a better choice at first base then Carlos Pena, whom they designated for assignment today. That’s right, that Arencibia. And Geovany Soto returns as well.
It is time to get excited everyone! (Okay, not really). The Texas Rangers have fallen very far this season, especially when you consider they have now gone from perennial All-Star Prince Fielder, to Mitch Moreland, to Donnie Murphy/Brad Snyder, then Carlos Pena, and now J.P. Arencibia. Yep, that kind of sums up the entire 2014 Texas Rangers season. That and the story that broke a week or more ago about Geovany Soto enjoying a little illicit drugs while rehabbing. I thought Adam Morris said it best on Twitter:
So the Texas Ranger now have four catchers (Arencibia, Soto, Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez. Two of them can play first base and one of them has already pitched this season. Not sure how I feel about this move, but I do know one thing: I am looking forward to baseball starting again so I can see what happens! Enjoy the last day before baseball, and if you get bored and need some sort of baseball fix, be sure to check out the latest Ranger Report Podcast. Thanks!
