Texas Rangers outfielder and first baseman Jim Adduci has been activated from the 15 day disabled list according to a press release on texasrangers.com. Jim Adduci has been out since April when he fractured his finger against the White Sox. Matt West has been sent down to make room for Adduci.
Jim Adduci is in the lineup tonight at first base, taking the place of J.P. Arencibia, and my guess would be that Jim Adduci would get the majority of the starts going forward at first base while Arencibia would back him up for the remainder of the season.
Most Texas Rangers fans are used to Adduci being an outfielder, but he has started 60 games at first base, which is 60 more than Donnie Murphy had before playing there for the Texas Rangers earlier this season. Hopefully, Jim Adduci can stay healthy and play good and continue batting as well as he had been before he went down with his injury.
The Rangers 40 man roster remains full with today’s move, and I expect the Texas Rangers to not make any more moves for a little while. Hopefully Jim Adduci will continue hitting the ball hard and add some pop to this lineup, which desperately needs it!
