Geovany Soto and Jake Smolinski both had to leave the game yesterday due to injury, which should come as no surprise to Texas Rangers fans everywhere. They should change their name from the Texas Rangers to the Texas RINJURES. The injury train has been beyond ridiculous so far.
So how serious is the groin injury for Soto and the foot injury for Smolinski? From what I am reading at texasrangers.com, it appears that the Smolinski injury is not considered serious, and he is listed as day to day going forward.
Soto, on the other hand, seems like it may be more serious.
“Hopefully it is just a little tightness,” said Soto. “
Soto, although hopeful, may be the worse of the two. A groin injury is never a good thing, especially for a catcher.
Somlinski, on the other hand, fouled a ball off his foot. The x-rays were negative, which gives me hope that it will just smart for a few days and then he can get back out there. We know that the Texas Rangers need both of those guys out there right now.
The season of injuries continue, especially for Soto. I expect to hear more about both of them later on this afernoon.
