Derek Holland, Rangers Get Rare Win

Wins have been difficult to come by for the Texas Rangers of late, and Derek Holland is only starting his second game of the season, so Rangers fans had no idea what to expect. They were pleasantly surprised by a great performance by Derek Holland and an acceptable performance by the bull pen. The pen made it interesting, but in the end Neftali Feliz got the job done as the Rangers won the game 1-0 over the Mariners Sunday afternoon.

Derek Holland recorded his first win of the 2014 season and Tim Bogart recorded his first victory as the Rangers interim manager. The Rangers are still on pace to lose 100 games, but it is nice to watch a win when we get the chance. I Shawn Tolleson did a good job as well in the eighth inning. The Rangers finally snapped their eight game losing streak going into an off day tomorrow, which is nice.

The Rangers are in disarray right now due to the injury load they are carrying as well as Ron Washington walking away on Friday amidst a ton of speculation, none of which I will get into here. It is sad to see the best manager in Texas Rangers history go out that way, but as our former manager would say, that’s the way baseball go. I wish him only the best and hope that whatever drove him away from the game will not keep him away from the game, he is a great baseball mind and seemed to be a great person, although I never had the opportunity to meet him in person.

The Rangers have 19 games left, which means that Derek Holland has roughly 4-5 starts left this season to prepare himself for the 2015 season. The Rangers have a lot of work to do to get ready for the 2015 season, and I am looking forward to blogging about it after this season ends, but until then, I hope I have more wins to write about in the next nineteen games! Let’s Go Rangers!
