Texas Rangers Win Second Straight Derek Holland Start

Derek Holland looked good for the third straight start last night, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Braves 2-1. In 3 starts, Derek Holland is no 1-0 with a 0.86 ERA. That would have been nice back in April, but Rangers fans will take it now for sure.

"“He just got more intensity,” Rangers manager Tim Bogar said of Derek Holland according to texasrangers.com. “He realized right there that he had to make pitches. That just shows how Derek goes after things every day. We weren’t probably going to score a lot of runs off [Braves starter Alex Wood] and he stepped up and did what he had to do.”"

Phil Klein got his first major league win out of the game, while Neftali Feliz earned his ninth save of the season.

"“Derek threw a very good game,” Feliz said. “I just came in, threw all of my pitches and kept the ball down… I’m getting better and better.”"

The Rangers are on their way to their first 100 loss season in many years, and it is nice to see a pitcher like Derek Holland come out and perform the way he has so far in his 2014. The way he is pitching right now gets me excited for the 2015 season. It was also nice to see the bull pen earn a win last night instead of a loss. It looks like Nefi is getting his velocity back and that can only be a good thing for the Rangers.

Today Lisalverto Bonilla will start for the Rangers, so I would expect to see a lot of bull pen action in this one. The Rangers just need to win 8 of their last 15 games to avoid the 100 losses, something that will most likely not happen. I am still enjoying watching the Rangers, and even though it has been a miserable season record and injury wise, I will still be a little sad when the season is over. Let’s Go Rangers!
