Texas Rangers minor leaguer, Jurickson Profar, is off to a hot start at Triple-A Round Rock in 2016.

The Jurickson Profar saga is well documented and well-known among Texas Rangers fans. After a shaky start in the majors and injury troubles, the talented young shortstop found himself starting off 2016 with the Round Rock Express, Texas’ Triple-A affiliate.

Despite not being with the big league club, Profar has made the most of his 2016 season getting off to a very hot start.

At the plate, Jurickson Profar leads the Express in batting average hitting impressively at .303 with a .434 slugging percentage. He’s hit four doubles and two homeruns this year for the extra-base tally while driving in seven runs in 18 games.

The switch hitting shortstop has hit well from both sides of the plate but slightly better right-handed. He’s hitting .333 against lefties with an on-base percentage over .400 and is slugging .542.

Defensively, Jurickson Profar has played fairly well committing just two errors in seventy-two total chances, good for a .972 fielding percentage. Profar has experience at all infield positions but has played only shortstop for Round Rock this season.

Jurickson Profar is only 23-years old and is still seen by many to be the shortstop of the future for the Texas Rangers.

His major league counterpart, Elvis Andrus, has lost the support of much of the fan base after a couple of below expectations seasons and a rough performance in the playoffs last year.

Profar has been making his case to be in consideration for the job given his production thus far, and is returning to the form Texas Rangers fans saw him in before his injury.

Jurickson Profar will for sure find himself on a major league roster and in my prediction of the 2017 active roster, I think that it will be with Texas playing shortstop following a trade of Elvis Andrus.
