Texas Rangers Trounce Angels On Saturday

The Texas Rangers picked up their fourth straight win with a 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

On The Mound

The Texas Rangers sent lefty Derek Holland to the mound Saturday night in search of his third win of the 2016 season. Holland, who had held opponent’s to a .212 batting average going into the game. Holland went 6 innings in the game Saturday allowing four hits and no earned runs, recording one strikeout. After the outing, Holland’s ERA is down to 2.48 this season, third best among Rangers starters.

In relief, the Texas Rangers sent Tom Wilhelmsen to the mound throwing an inning allowing only one hit. Tony Barnette threw the eighth inning allowing just one hit himself. Phil Klein got handed the ball for the ninth and allowed three hits and the two runs scored by the Angels.

At The Plate

The Texas Rangers put together a twelve hit team performance scoring seven runs in the game. A six run third inning propelled Texas into a big lead and they never looked back. Rougned Odor recorded a multi-hit game with two doubles in the game including one that went under review regarding the original foul call. Prince Fielder also put together a multi-hit performance driving in a run in the six run third inning.

Every starter in the Rangers lineup recorded a hit against the Angels as they extended their record to 14-10 this season.
