Josh Hamilton has a knee injury again. This is something the Texas Rangers didn’t want to hear. At the moment, the severity of the injury is unknown.

Hamilton, who turns 36 in May has not played in the major leagues since October 14, 2015. After undergoing knee surgery last June, it was announced he’d miss the 2016 entire season. The Texas Rangers would go on to release him in August.

Last January, Hamilton signed a minor-league contract with Texas. The deal included an invitation to Spring Training. For the most part, the Rangers organization had confidence in him.

According to ESPN, Hamilton suddenly began to feel pain in his knee during a Spring Training workout and he’s been sent to Houston to have his knee examined as a precaution. His knee will be examined by Dr. Walt Lowe. Lowe is the surgeon who performed Hamilton’s season-ending knee surgery last year. Definitely a very wise decision to send Hamilton to see him.

This unfortunate news has many Rangers fans worried. Right now there’s not much to report on the status on the knee. At the present time, we can only wait and see the results of the examination. In any case, Texas has to take the situation very seriously.

A very unfortunate set of circumstances for Hamilton. The last year has been tough on him. He’s very keen to play baseball and be a big name in Arlington, but his health is just not up to it, it seems.

Hamilton has had 10 knee surgeries, per Evan Grant. One more could force him to hang up his cleats. Let’s hope his surgically repaired knee hasn’t sustained any damage.
