It’s hard to find a hotter hitter right now than Rangers prospect Drew Robinson. He’s been hitting the cover off the ball this spring, but has he done enough to make the Opening Day roster in Arlington?

There aren’t too many spots open for the Texas Rangers, but Drew Robinson might be able to grab one of them. He’s leading in multiple categories for the Rangers this spring, and it would be difficult for the team to not bring him with on Opening Day.

This spring Robinson is hitting .296 with three home runs and eight RBI with six walks, and eight hits in 27 at-bats. He’s leading the team in almost every category on offense this spring, and has impressed the organization.

He’s versatility is what makes him such an intriguing option for Texas. Robinson can play four infield positions, and all three outfield spots. He could find a job as a super utility guy for the Rangers.

Last season Robinson hit .257 with 20 home runs and 67 RBI with 17 stolen bases in 125 games at Triple-A. The 24-year-old is just about ready to join the Major League club. He could add some power from the left side of the plate.

After losing Mitch Moreland in free agency, Robinson could be the replacement for him. Prospect Ronald Guzman has struggled in Spring Training, and could need more time in the minors. Mike Napoli is signed through 2017.

That means if Robinson has success in the Majors, then he could take over at first base next season. It’s a bold prediction, but nonetheless Robinson is ready to take the next step and join the Rangers.
