The Texas Rangers are once again back on the win column thanks to a come-from-behind 4-3 win against Chicago. Texas is now 10-14 this Spring Training. The countdown to Opening Day is t-minus 12 days from now. Texas needs to keep the momentum going.

Quite a long evening for the Texas Rangers. Starting off slow, but finishing hot. Overall, another excellent bout by the pitching corps. Offense had another rough day, but played well enough to give the club the win.

Offense finished the night going 7-for-30 and striking out a total of nine times. Funny enough, it was at the bottom of the ninth when the offense picked up the pace, when Texas was trailing 3-1. Texas scored three runs to end the game in their favor.

Cole Hamels made his second appearance this Spring. He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits, surrendering two runs, and striking out five batters. Definitely a much better game than he had in his first Spring appearance. It’s unclear if he’ll take the mound on Opening Day. In any case, he needs to be ready to go. When Hamels was pulled out with Texas trailing 2-0. Relief pitching did an amazing job of preventing Chicago from inflicting more damage. Tanner Scheppers, Jeremy Jeffress, Nick Gardewine, and Tony Barnette allowed a combine five hits, surrendered one run, and struck out four batters. Barnette would go one to earn the win.

Tomorrow, Texas takes their arch-rivals, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. With Opening Day less than two weeks away, Texas is in a position where they’ve got nothing to lose. Yes, it’s Spring Training, but I’ve been saying this whole time that this team needs to keep negativity away. And the way to do that is to play with heart and go for the win.
