For the second straight year, the Texas Rangers have secured a spot in the Fall Classic from a Game 6 ALCS. Last year, it was against the New York Yankees, a team that no one thought the Rangers could beat. This year, there was a bit more confidence in the under-estimated team as they went up against the Detroit Tigers and eventually took them out to advance to the World Series for the second consecutive year with the AL Pennant under their wing.

Cruz also set another postseason record with 13 RBIs for the ALCS. He was selected as the MVP, as if we didn’t already realize that was going to happen. (more…)

I was fortunate enough to be at the game last night thanks to free tickets, courtesy of Chevrolet. Derek Holland had trouble early on in the game and it had me worried. He wasn’t able to execute his pitches correctly and he even had the bases loaded, but thankfully, was able to get himself out of trouble.

After Holland’s trouble on the mound, there was a call to the bullpen for Scott Feldman, who came in and was exceptional. After Feldman, Alexi Ogando came in and did plenty of his own magic up to almost the end of the ninth inning.

With green, red and orange covering the DFW area on the weather map, it was inevitable there would be at least one rain delay. Instead, there were two. The Rangers were up 3-0 on the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the 2011 ALCS leaving Justin Verlander a little on the uneasy side especially after that solo blast from Nelson Cruz; however, after the first rain delay, which lasted more than 30 minutes, the Tigers brought their A-game whereas C.J. Wilson did not. When Wilson came out after that first delay, he simply was not himself. Wilson allowed two runs and the bases were loaded when the second rain delay was called.
