On November 2nd, over 500+ minor league players were granted free agency adding to the talent pool that already included many MiLB players who had already elected to travel the free agent path. While that was almost two weeks ago, coverage and analysis of the 22 Rangers that were a part of that group has been noticeably absent here on Nolan Writin’. I’m here to correct that particular oversight though it’s going to take me 2 articles to get through them all in my own way.

This is Part 2, for Part 1 (which was published two weeks ago) click here.

2B Travis Adair (24)

2011 Performance [A+]: 307 PA, 0.305/.363/.412, 20 XBH, 24 BB, 44 SO
2011 Performance [AA]: 135 PA, 0.238/.284/.333, 7 XBH, 8 BB, 19 SO

Not a lot to see here. Relatively ho-hum numbers, combined with the fact he was old for both levels last season, casts him into an organizational filler role.

I took advantage of the rain-out to focus a bit more on the minor league systems, I recapped the AA and AAA games as well as providing stats of some of the Texas Rangers top prospects for the night.

RoughRiders Use Extra-Innings to Finish Cardinals:

The Texas Rangers top prospect Martin Perez took to the mound for the first time of the 2011 season, unfortunately it wasn’t a very good outing. In the second game of the season the Frisco RoughRiders took on the Springfield Cardinals, Perez threw for only three innings and earned two runs and five hits.

The Double-A team rallied after being down by four runs, scoring a run in the seventh, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth that tied the game and take it to extra inning. Tommy Mendonca hit a sac bunt that scored Joey Butler to win the game.

Round Rock Falls Again to Iowa Cubs 6-4:

The big story out of this game is not the final score, potential Major League starter this season Eric Hurley took the mound for the Express. His game was solid and respectable, going a full five innings allowing six hits and two runs but getting seven strikeouts on the night. Hurley threw 82 pitches on the night and 53 of those were for strikes.

Endy Chavez and Doug Deeds each had home runs on the game and Chris Davis had an RBI double in the loss.

More stats and notes after the jump…
