Texas Rangers (36-32) at New York Yankees (37-28) Preview Game 2

Well, Alexi Ogando had his second bad outing of the year against the same team that gave him his first bad outing this season – the New York Yankees. While the Yankees are excellent hitters, Ogando is a very dominant pitcher in the starting rotation of the Texas Rangers. Based on his season so far, he seems to just have trouble with the Yankees’ hitters. We’ll see how he does next time out but for now, even with his first loss of the 2011 MLB season, I still think he is among the best.

Tonight, the Rangers will look to attempt to take the second game of this three-game series at Yankee Stadium. After last night, I’m going to say the Rangers have a lot of work to do offensively if they want to take this second game. Hopefully, they’ll have their bats in order.

New York Yankees (17-12) at Texas Rangers (17-15) Preview Game 1

Despite a loss last night, Colby Lewis did finally get back in his fastball groove and the right mindset for the game. He pitched well enough to win last night against the Mariners at Safeco Field, but his team wasn’t able to back him up with enough on the offensive side of the plate. The Mariners scored three and the Rangers were able to score one.

The Texas Rangers are now back home at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington where they will begin a three-game series tonight against the New York Yankees. The first series for Texas and New York was last month at Yankee Stadium in which the Yankees took two of the three wins. In 2010, the Yankees were 1-4 against the Rangers in Texas.

Texas Rangers (9-3) at New York Yankees (7-4) Preview

It’s an American League playoff rematch starting today. While the Rangers will look to crush the Yankees yet again and continue their success that they’ve shown so far this season, the Yankees will look to redeem themselves after their loss in the 2010 ALCS that no one thought they would lose.

Today kicks off the first game of a three-game series and will feature the “young guns” of the bunch – Matt Harrison, Derek Holland and Alexi Ogando. All three of these guys have done well this season so there is currently no worry whether or not they can pull it off against the Yankees.
