A huge win for the Rangers yesterday afternoon, they were able to get an early lead and the Angels were able to tie the game. With the bases loaded Chris Davis was able to hit a blooper single (after his home run earlier in the game) that scored the game winning run. This was a HUGE win for the Rangers, and hopefully this could be the turning point of the season.

C.J. Wilson had a tough night, he went five innings allowed six hits and four walks. Four runs scored against C.J. but only two were earned. This was the second struggling start for C.J. in a row, hopefully he can come back in his next start. Brett Tomko took the mound from there, and worked 2.2 innings allowing two hits and two walks. Despite allowing the runs that tied the game (unearned as they were C.J.’s base runners), he held strong and was able to keep the Rangers in the game. (more…)

The Texas Rangers won Friday night over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4-1. In a night where Jered Weaver took the mound for the Angels, Alexi Ogando squared up for the Rangers. Of the three games this weekend, this was one I felt would probably fall to the Angels. Weaver has always played the Rangers well and generally doesn’t give them much breathing room.

Alexi Ogando put this game on his blistered finger and battled. Going 6.1 innings and allowing only five hits and one run he picked up his fourth win of the season. The only run that the Rangers gave up all game was a solo home-run from the unlikely shortstop Erick Aybar. Cody Eppley and Darren Oliver were both worked in the game between them going 1.2 innings and allowing no hits and no runs. Neftali Feliz came in to close out the game with some drama. Feliz allowed a hit and a walk, and with the tying man on the plate Mark Trumbo, Nefty forces him to pop out. (more…)

The Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last night in Arlington. C.J. Wilson on the mound was outstanding, and the offense was pretty good as well.

The starting pitcher was the real gem of this game. C.J. Wilson, up to this point in the season hasn’t really shown himself. Last night Wilson went a full seven innings, allowing nine hits and only one run. The most impressive stat from C.J.’s game was the nine strikeouts and only one walk allowed. Wilson threw 116 pitches, and 74 were for strikes. Also it should be noted, the only run C.J. allowed came at the end of his outing in the seventh inning.

The Rangers offense was really working well and faced a less than stellar Ervin Santana. We saw a two hit night from Ian Kinsler and Adrian Beltre. Mitch Moreland drove in the two runs that broke up the 0-0 tie in the fourth inning, and had a solo home-run in the eighth. Kinsler had a double and a triple in the game. Elvis Andrus had an impressive three hit game and picked up an RBI. Adrian Beltre hit a 3-run jack in the game to centerfield, if you can check out the replay on the Beltre homer, make sure to watch the fan’s great catch on the hill.
