The 2015 Texas Rangers: Where are they now?

Where are they now? 2015 Texas Rangers position players

Robinson Chirinos was in his third season with Texas in 2015.  In 78 games, Chirinos hit for a .232 AVG, 10 HR, and 34 RBI’s.  Chirinos played three more seasons in Texas before electing free agency.  Chirinos played the 2019 season in Houston, then returned to split 2020 between Texas and the New York Mets.  In 2021, Chirinos played for the Chicago Cubs.  Chirinos is currently a free agent.

Mitch Moreland was the starting 1B for the Rangers in 2015.  Moreland was in his 6th season playing for the Rangers.  Moreland played 132 games and hit for a .278 AVG, 23 HR, and 85 RBI’s.  Moreland played one more season in Texas before being granted free agency after the 2016 season.  After leaving Texas, Moreland has played five more seasons for three teams and is currently a free agent.

Rougned Odor was the starting 2B for Texas in 2015.  Odor was in his 2nd season in Texas.  In 120 games, Odor hit for a .261 AVG, 16 HR, 61 RBI’s, and six SB.  Odor played five more seasons in Texas before being traded to the New York Yankees in April 2021.  In November, the Yankees released Odor and he signed a free agent contract to play with Baltimore in 2022.

Elvis Andrus was the starting SS for the Rangers in 2015.  Andrus was in his 7th season playing with Texas.  Andrus played 160 games and hit for a .258 AVG, seven HR, 62 RBI’s, and 25 SB.  Andrus would play five more seasons in Texas before being traded to Oakland.  Andrus played his first season in Oakland in 2021 and will return to play for the A’s in 2022.

Adrian Beltre was the starting 3B for the Rangers in 2015.  Beltre was playing in his 5th season in Texas.  In 143 games, Beltre hit for .287 AVG, 18 HR, and 83 RBI’s.  Beltre played three more seasons in Texas and retired from MLB after the 2018 season.

Josh Hamilton returned to play one final season in Texas in 2015.  In 50 games, Hamilton hit for a .253 AVG, with eight HR and 25 RBI’s.  Hamilton tried to play in 2016 and 2017, but his knees were too damaged to allow him to continue to play professional baseball.

Delino DeShields was a rookie outfielder for the Rangers in 2015.  In 121 games, DeShields hit for a .261 AVG, with two HR, 37 RBI’s, and 25 SB.  DeShields played four more seasons for the Rangers before being traded to Cleveland.  In 2021, DeShields played AAA in the Rangers organization before being purchased by Boston then Cincinnati.  Now 29, DeShields is currently a free agent.

Shin-Soo Choo was in his 2nd season playing in the OF for Texas in 2015.  In 149 games, Choo hit for a .276 AVG, 22 HR, 82 RBI’s, and four SB.  Choo played five more seasons in Texas before moving back to Korea to play in 2021.  Choo is a current member of the SSG Landers of the KBO.

Prince Fielder was  the primary DH for Texas in 2015.  Fielder also represented Texas in the All-Star game.  It was Fielder’s 2nd season playing for the Rangers.  In 158 games, Fielder hit for a .305 AVG, with 23 HR, and 98 RBI’s.  Fielder played half of one more season in Texas before announcing that a 2nd neck surgery would not allow him to continue playing baseball.
