The Kansas City Royals couldn't hold a candle to the Texas Rangers on Monday night, losing 11-2 in Arlington.

It gets even harder for the Royals, who now have to face Jacob deGrom, who looked more like the star pitcher we have come to know over the last near decade in his second start with the club, striking out 11 batters in a 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Can deGrom shut down a struggling Royals offense while the Rangers' bats keep it humming at the dish? Here are the odds for Tuesday's matchup:

Royals vs. Rangers odds, run line and total

Royals vs. Rangers prediction and pick

The Royals offense has been a disaster to start the year, last in wRC+ and hitting just .179 as a team, far and away the worst mark in baseball. Now, they face arguably the best pitcher in the big leagues when he is on in deGrom.

The former Mets Cy Young winner only pitched six innings in his last start, but was on top of his game with his 11 strikeouts. On top of that he only allowed one earned run and two hits in the process. The Royals inability to generate any contact is going to be on display and it doesn't help that the club has the third highest strikeout rate at the plate so far this year.

deGrom is going to be in command and I expect a lengthy outing for him on Tuesday. While I'm not interested in laying such a heavy price, I'll target the Royals team total under as my favorite bet in this Tuesday night matchup.
