Rangers Win Big Over Angels- Series and Game

A huge win for the Rangers yesterday afternoon, they were able to get an early lead and the Angels were able to tie the game. With the bases loaded Chris Davis was able to hit a blooper single (after his home run earlier in the game) that scored the game winning run. This was a HUGE win for the Rangers, and hopefully this could be the turning point of the season.

C.J. Wilson had a tough night, he went five innings allowed six hits and four walks. Four runs scored against C.J. but only two were earned. This was the second struggling start for C.J. in a row, hopefully he can come back in his next start. Brett Tomko took the mound from there, and worked 2.2 innings allowing two hits and two walks. Despite allowing the runs that tied the game (unearned as they were C.J.’s base runners), he held strong and was able to keep the Rangers in the game.

Mark Lowe earned the win after getting the final out in the eighth inning. Really he was just in the right place at the right time, since the Rangers rallied in the bottom of that inning. Rangers’ closer Neftali Feliz earned the save in dramatic fashion, with a strike-out and then a throw-out to earn the final two outs of the game.

For the offense we had the two Chris Davis RBIs mentioned earlier, and a three run homer from Adrian Beltre. It was a tough afternoon for the two minor league call-ups Endy Chavez and Craig Gentry both went hit-less in the game.

Tonight the Rangers take on the Chicago White Sox, Colby Lewis takes on Edwin Jackson.
