The Texas Rangers will be holding open tryouts for non-drafted and non-contracted players between the ages of 16 and 25. The tryout will be hosted at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock (home of the team’s Triple-A minor league affiliate). Tryouts will be on Wednesday July 20th from 7am to 3pm. Here’s the info from the Round Rock Express website –

"Rangers scouting department personnel will be on-hand holding the event. Participants will be evaluated based upon Major League standards. Overall skills tests such as 60-yard dash, agility, hitting ability and arm strength from shortstop, outfield, catcher and pitcher positions will be administered. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and should come dressed in baseball attire. Baseballs will be furnished.“This is a bona fide opportunity for a diamond in the rough to get their chance to get noticed for a shot at professional baseball,” said Express General Manager George King. “Every player in attendance will have a chance to show Baseball what he can do.”"

They also reminded possible participants that there are players in the Rangers organization, like Express pitcher Mark Hamburger who joined the twins via open tryouts. If you are interested the team would like you to pre-register here or contact the team at 512-255-2255
