Josh Hamilton in Tonight’s Lineup; Rangers Club Create Memorial Fund for Shannon Stone’s Family

In my post and preview earlier today, I talked about Shannon Stone and how he fell to his death at the Ballpark in Arlington at a Texas Rangers game. The club has created a memorial fund for the grieving family of Shannon Stone, who was a 39-year-old firefighter with the Brownwood Fire Department. The Rangers will be providing a substantial donation, as said by club President Nolan Ryan, to the memorial fund.

In addition, my preview earlier today stated that I wasn’t certain if Josh Hamilton would be in the lineup tonight as he was very “distraught” over the incident that happened last night. In case you didn’t read previous posts or any other related articles, Hamilton is the one who tossed the ball up into the bleachers toward Stone, who then reached over the railing to catch the foul bowl but tumbled over the railing where he fell head first onto the concrete. He was taken the hospital but died on the way from cardiac arrest, according to various reports.

Hamilton is in the lineup, batting third, for the game tonight and is scheduled to meet with the press prior to tonight’s game. Both teams are to be wearing a black ribbon or black armband in memory of Stone. Further, the flags at the ballpark will be lowered in Stone’s memory.

Again, our condolences go out to everyone involved – mine and Jonathan’s both!

If any of you would like to donate to the Texas Rangers Shannon Stone Memorial Fund, any little bit will help the family!
