The GM/owners meeting have now come to a close, and the Texas Rangers did get some things accomplished during the four-day event. Not the big acquisition we have all been talking about, but they did get some work done.

Monday: Nelson Cruz rejected his qualifying offer by the Texas Rangers. This was no surprise, and it is a 50/50 shot that Nelly returns to the Rangers in the future. My expectations are someone out there will be willing to overpay him, I just don’t know who. (link)

The Texas Rangers also promoted two of their front office people on Monday, making A.J. Preller an assistant GM and Mike Daly the director of minor league scouting. Both guys have been in the Texas Rangers organization for a little while and Jon Daniels leans on both of them. Both of these were considered good moves on the part of the Texas Rangers. (link)

There were also a lot of David Price rumors flying around on Monday, and the Texas Rangers are still considered to be in the hunt for Price. (link)

Tuesday: It is being discussed internally about making Robbie Ross a starter, something that he did in the minors, and something he is doing right now in the Dominican League. Ross wants to  be a starter and Daniels said that he will go into spring training with an opportunity to try out and be a starter. (link)

Daily dose of twitter rumors and other baseball news that you need to know about. Lots of bats out there, and the Rangers are linked to all of them. (link)

The Texas Rangers announce that they have hired Bengie Molina to be their first base coach. Molina, a former Ranger, talked about his move to the Texas Rangers and why he is excited about it. (link)

More information came out on what teams are interested in signing Nelson Cruz to a long term contract, and some of those teams are in the Rangers own division. (link)

Wednesday: Another daily dose of the hottest trade rumors and player notes for your enjoyment. (link)

Jon Daniels tells the media that their focus is going to be on position players during the off-season and not on starting pitching. He said they have little interest in Matt Garza or Masahiro Tanaka. (link)
