Russell Wilson, who was rule 5 drafted by the Texas Rangers during the winter meetings, said back then he would attend spring training.  But, after winning the Super Bowl, his agent went back and forth with the idea.  But finally, via Twitter, Russell let the baseball world know that he’ll be in Surprise, Arizona with the Texas Rangers.

Back in December, it was thought that he was going to be actually participating in some of the baseball activities such as taking grounders and so forth, but now he’ll just be in Surprise for one day.  The purpose of the trip will be to talk to players and probably coaches.  Also, in my opinion, hopefully bring some good luck with him.  He was able to bring a championship to Seattle, a town that hasn’t seen one since 1976.

Below is another tweet from Russell Wilson.  I added it, because you can see he’s still wearing his Rangers jersey several hours later after posting the other one.

Ranger fans shouldn’t have any expectations that he’ll play for the Rangers, baseball is pretty much his second passion over football.  But one of the Rangers minor league teams as been trying to get him to play one game for charity, read more here.

At least the Rangers will have someone within their organization like Russell.  He’s a champion, leader and a very hard worker.  Looking forward to seeing what he’ll do at camp with the Rangers.
