Surprise, Ariz – Mitch Moreland has been trying to do anything he can to ensure he gets plenty of at-bats this season. Yesterday, in the Texas Rangers game against the Kansas City Royals Moreland left after two innings due to tightness in his right oblique.

Now the big question is will Mitch Moreland be ready for Opening day? No official report yet from the Texas Rangers on his condition, but even a mild strain could set him back. The Rangers will the the chance Friday to add players to the 15-day disabled list, if he is added, he’ll miss at least 4 games.
The injury could be mild, but fellow teammate Alex Rios had a similar injury during spring training. That mild strain caused him to miss a week of workouts and playing time. I do expect Moreland to be out again today. That will give him at least 2 days rest, since tomorrow is an off day.
