According to Jeff Wilson of the Star Telegram, Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre will be starting in today’s cactus league game against the Reds. Beltre has been sidelined since the 14th.

Beltre has said that if it were the regular season that he would not have missed any time for this, but he has no reason to push himself and the Texas Rangers have no reason to push him since the job at third is obviously his.

"“It’s Spring Training, and they don’t want to rush it. Besides, they’re playing better without me.” Beltre said on TexasRangers.com"

Beltre is a gold glove caliber player who has struggled wit leg injuries over the past few season but still managed to put up all-star type numbers while struggling with his hamstrings.

Mitch Moreland will be ready for opening day according to Texas Rangers beat writer T.R. Sullivan.

To me, this is big news. The Texas Rangers did not need their primary DH and a guy who needs to have good season start the season injured. Moreland needs to prove that the Texas Rangers should keep him around as a DH/Outfielder for the foreseeable future, and starting the season on the DL is not a good way to do that.

The Rangers seem to be getting healthy, and not a moment too soon seeing that Game 1 of 162 is only eleven days away! Now all we need is good news on Elvis Andrus and a fourth and fifth starter, and this team will be ready to roll!
