The Texas Rangers have announced that Seattle Seahawks superbowl winning quarterback Russell Wilson will throw out the first pitch Wednesday against the Phillies. Russell Wilson has baseball rights, and those rights are owned by the Texas Rangers. He spent a day during spring training with the team, you may all remember.

Russell Wilson really seemed to enjoy his time with the Texas Rangers, and said he thought they were  a good group of guys. I asked Texas Rangers prospect Brett Nicholas on the Hague Sports Podcast about Wilson when I got the chance to interview him a little while back, and he said it was the work ethic and passion that Russell Wilson brings that really impressed him. Everyone seems to say the same thing about Wilson, he is an extreemly hard worker and a guy that brings it day in and day out and is always ready to play. There is nothing wrong with having a guy like that be associated with your organization.

The ceremonial first pitch does not mean that much, but it is fun. I won’t be there in person, but I will be watching. I bet he throws a strike. I mean, come on, we know the guy can throw!
