The Texas Rangers attempted their first challenge tonight in the sixth inning against the Phillies. Martin Perez appeared to pick off Ben Revere from second but he was called safe. Ron Washington made the slow walk out to the umpires and made the challenge.

Upon further review, it was pretty obvious that he was picked off, but would there be enough evidence to overturn the call of safe? Texas Rangers fans waited to see what would happen and lots of fans tweeted that he looked out. The umpires signaled out and the crowd went wild. The right call was made, and it was a big call for the Rangers, who wound up giving up two runs that inning, but it would have been three if not for the replay.

This was the whole reason for replay, to make sure that the right call is made, and the right call was made tonight at the Globe. So now Ron Washington and the Texas Rangers are perfect when it comes to challenges! I did not personally think that it slowed the game down much at all, and I actually thought it was a good thing since the right call was eventually made. So there is one thing that has gone right for the Texas Rangers so far in 2014, they are undefeated in challenges!
