Going into today’s Texas Rangers game with Boston, only four people in all of the MLB had gotten a hit in every game of the season so far, and two of those players were Texas Rangers. Alex Rios streak ended today, but Elvis Andrus‘s did not. Elvis extended his hitting streak to 9 this afternoon in the Texas Rangers 4-2 loss to the Sox. Melky Cabrera is hitless so far in the Blue Jays game against the Astros, and Alexei Ramirez got a hit today against the Rockies, so for now Elvis and Ramierez are the only two players left who have a hit in every game this season.

Elvis has been doing all this even though he is Ron Washington‘s favorite sac bunter. As hitting streaks go, this one to me is fairly impressive. It is tough to come out of the gates and get a hit in the first nine game straight, and Elvis Andrus has done that. I hope this is a sign of things to come at the plate for Elvis Andrus, since he even has a home run so far this season. Elvis has always been a plus fielder, now if he can also become a plus batter, then the Texas Rangers and their fans will be very excited about their future at short stop.

The Texas Rangers have the day off tomorrow, and then go into a three game set with the Astros.
