Texas Rangers Minor League Standouts

This article could really cover last nights game in Oakland, since the Texas Rangers had Josh Wilson at third, Luis Sardinas at second, Michael Choice in the outfield, Robinson Chirinos catching and Nick Martinez pitching. And yet this Texas Rangers team full of misfit players defeated the A’s for the second straight game in a row, securing a series victory in the first set between the two division rivals. But instead, since it appears that this team is going to need all the help it can get from the minor leagues, lets look at the minor league standouts for both Frisco and Round Rock so far in 2014.

Frisco Rough Riders

Pitching Top 5 by ERA: (minimum  5.0 innings pitched)

1. Matt West – 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in 9.2 innings pitched in relief.

2. Francisco Mendoza – 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5.0 innings pitched in relief.

3. Phil Klein – 3-0, 0.83 ERA, 15 strikeouts and 5 walks in 9.2 innings pitched in relief.

4. Matt Harrison – 1-0, 1.69 ERA, 10 strikeouts and 4 walks in 16.0 innings pitched.

5. Nick Martinez – 0-0, 1.86 ERA, 9 strikeouts and 7 walks in 9.2 innings pitched.

Off to a rough start: We talked about Cory Burns last week, and Michael Kirkman is 0-2 with a 13.97 ERA so far in 9.2 innings pitched.

We could be seeing some of these guys at the major league level soon if the Texas Rangers continue to see injuries at the rate that they have in 2014!
